Hybrid Words
The melding of 2 or more words to create a new word with merged meanings. Many of these were coined by my dear wife, who has the innate talent.
Examples
- Drueling - a task that is both draining and grueling ~ a Yankees play by play announcer 5/20/2024
- Flummage - what you do when you get flustered while rummaging about for something
- Manguage - mangled language, like what we do here.
- Pluffy - Plump and fluffy, like a desirable lap to a cat.
- Plummage - what those Vikings did to hamlets in coastal Europe, viz. pillage and plunder
- Prolifigate - to spread and increase (proliferate) something corrupt (profligate) ~ attributed to J.Crowdus 5/2024
- Splasm - the result of an 8 year-old’s first attempt at a proper dive.
